In an open-loop controller , also called a non-feedback controller , the control action from the controller is independent of the "process output", which is the process variable that is being controlled. The advantage of using open-loop control in these cases is the reduction in component count and complexity. However, an open-loop system cannot correct any errors that it makes or correct for outside disturbances, and cannot engage in machine learning. Fundamentally, there are two types of control loop: open-loop feedforward control, and closed loop feedback control. In open-loop control, the control action from the controller is independent of the "process output" or "controlled process variable".

Feedback control is employed in a wide variety of situations in everyday life, from simple home thermostats that maintain a specified temperature, to complex devices that maintain the position of communication satellites. Feedback control also occurs in natural situations, such as the regulation of blood-sugar levels in the body.

A system is defined as the collection of blocks connected together to execute a process. In electronic theory, a system can be said as a group of interconnected electronic devices, in which each individual system having its own input — output relation, to control the other block by connecting its output further to its next system. The control system can also be defined as the group of devices which are used to control or regulate the functioning of other system. Sometimes, to attain the consistency and stability of a system and to produce the desired output of a control systems, we use feedback loop.

A system is a combination of a functional unit that acts together in such a manner as to achieve the desired objective. The above figure shows that the Block diagram of a representation of the system. It produces an output corresponding to a given input signal in accordance with some rule. There can be any number of input and output signals. A system can be Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic, pneumatic, Chemical, Analog and digital or combination.
