He begins with what is essentially his professional autobiography, from his early training in the United Kingdom and the formative experiences that captured his interest and guided much of his career.

Moving to Montreal, Que, after some interna- tional travel, and subsequently to the University of Alberta in Edmonton, he describes many of his experiences and chronicles the development of a rapidly chang- ing area of medi- cine and research. Bloodletting and miraculous cures

I loved this book. My only complaint would be that none of the stories really resolved themselves--I wanted more. I really enjoyed this. The way the stories were presented were wonderful, and the characters were very lifelike and believable. It was less of what you would call a story and more of brief glimpses of several doctors at various points in their lives. Intriguing and entertaining :. A surprising treat, as I had not been seized by the description of the book.
