It is not enough to have data such as statistics on the economy. Data themselves are fairly useless, but when these data are interpreted and processed to determine its true meaning, they becomes useful and can be named as Information. ICT: The difference between data and information

Data and information are similar concepts, but they are not the same thing. The main difference between data and information is that data are a part and information is the whole. Explore how data and information differ through definitions and examples. The word data can be used for a singular fact or a collection of facts. The word datum is still the technically correct singular form of data, but is rarely used in common language.

Knowledge, Information, and Data are key words and also fundamental concepts in knowledge management, intellectual capital, and organizational learning. This paper includes the reasons for vagueness and confusion commonly associated with those key terms, proposed definitions of the key terms, and two models of their transformations and interactions. Keywords: Knowledge management, intellectual capital, organizational learning, knowledge, data, information. Although many definitions are relevant, they are far from being complete. It is not the intention of this paper to criticize those whom have paved the way to better understanding of the topic. Rather, the goal is to provide a different or new perspective in the context of business and knowledge management.

Data is a raw and unorganized fact that required to be processed to make it meaningful. Data can be simple at the same time unorganized unless it is organized. Generally, data comprises facts, observations, perceptions numbers, characters, symbols, image, etc. Data is always interpreted, by a human or machine, to derive meaning. So, data is meaningless.

Information can be thought of as the resolution of uncertainty ; it is that which answers the question of "What an entity is" and thus defines both its essence and the nature of its characteristics. The concept of information has different meanings in different contexts. Information is associated with data. The difference is that information resolves uncertainty. Data can represent redundant symbols, but approaches information through optimal data compression.

There is a subtle difference between data and information. Data are the facts or details from which information is derived. Individual pieces of data are rarely useful alone. For data to become information, data needs to be put into context.

When study ing ICT it is important to understand the difference between "data" and "information". This study note tells you what the differences are and outlines the main types of information. Think of data as a "raw material" - it needs to be processed before it can be turned into something useful. Hence the need for "data processing". Data comes in many forms - numbers, words, symbols. Data relates to transactions, events and facts.

Universidad de Carabobo Av. Salvador Allende, Naguanagua, Estado Carabobo. Circumscribed in a non-experimental research context, with a transactional - correlational design, a questionnaire with eight items was designed. This instrument allowed to calculate the Pearson's correlation coefficient in order to determine the correspondence between variables. This questionnaire was administered to a random sample of 19 companies of the manufacturing industry. Finally, it was determined that a positive influence exists of the ICT on Organizational Development and the NOF; however, it is acknowledged that the correlation on the majority of the variables studied is positive but weak. This is accounted for the existence of other variables that may also have an influence on the decisions in the organizations.
